From the ED
I recently met with Sarah from Inbox Marketer to chat about our e-newsletter. After our first two issues, she told me we’re doing really well! Compared to industry standards, our e-newsletter is opened more often and our ‘click rate’ (how often people click to read more) is high. Thanks to all of you for showing your continued interest in GGH by opening and clicking, and thanks to Inbox Marketer for donating their services.
Regards,

Meet Nancy
It’s 1963. The Beatles released their first album. Bread cost 22 cents a loaf. Lester B. Pearson was Prime Minister. And, a young nurse started what would turn out to be a 46-year career with Guelph General Hospital! Nancy Steele started as a student in the former GGH School of Nursing and became an employee upon graduation. Now employed for 43 years and counting, Nancy is GGH’s longest-standing staff member.

Where would we be without volunteers
Volunteers aren’t paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless... truer words have never been spoken! We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers, whether it is our volunteer board of directors, Judy, our dedicated office volunteer, or our event volunteers. Of course, Hospital volunteers make a difference to our work as well, through their hands on efforts with patients and families, and their fund-raising through retail ventures. The Foundation celebrated Volunteer Appreciation Week in April with an open-house for our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, click here.

Donor Dollars Make a Difference!
Members of the Filipino Club of Guelph were recently on hand to see a demonstration of new phototherapy lights in the Hospital’s Special Care Nursery. The new set of lights was purchased with a $4700 donation from the Club. Now, jaundiced babies will spend less time having phototherapy treatment and be back with Mom and Dad sooner.

Cindy Brooks, a nurse in the Special Care Nursery, demonstrates the lights to Rose Gano, Pinong Sanez and Gerardo De La Torre of the Filipino-Canadian Club of Guelph.
